DilSe (“From the Heart”) provides free life-saving medical equipment to those who cannot afford them. Started in 2015, it arose from patients unable to leave hospitals without support. Today, DilSe helps them heal with dignity at home.

Introduction
Introduction
DilSe (meaning “From the Heart”) is a unique and deeply compassionate program by Helping Hands Charitable Trust that provides free life-saving medical equipment to patients who cannot afford them. Launched in 2015, it began as a response to a painful reality — patients, especially in public hospitals, were refusing discharge because they lacked the equipment needed to survive at home.

Why we started
Why we started
Launched to address the lack of essential home-care equipment for recovering patients, helping them go home sooner and live with dignity.
Launched to address the lack of essential home-care equipment for recovering patients, helping them go home sooner and live with dignity.

A Common Concern
Doctors at Calicut Medical College noticed that many patients, though ready for discharge, stayed longer in wards — not for medicine, but for equipment like oxygen concentrators or suction machines.
"This delay meant blocked ICU beds, prolonged hospital stays, and greater emotional trauma for patients and families."
The Solution: DilSe
We began with a few donated oxygen concentrators. Today, DilSe is a growing bank of essential home-care medical equipment, enabling patients to breathe, recover, and live with dignity.
Families undergoing long treatments often face unsafe stays and emotional strain.
Sleeping in unsafe, unhygienic areas near hospitals
Daily infection risk from public transport
Skipping meals and poor nutrition
Mental and emotional distress
"That’s when we realized: a clean room, hot food, and a helping hand could mean the difference between healing and giving up."
The Solution: Care Home
Care Home was born as a door to compassion, offering a safe, clean, and caring residential environment that supports recovery, prevents complications, and eases emotional burden.

To provide life-saving and life-supportive medical equipment free of cost to patients who cannot afford them — enabling timely discharge, continued recovery at home, and better hospital resource efficiency.
