Thripthi โ Free food program
Thripthi is the Free Food Program of Helping Hands Charitable Trust, started in 1995 to ensure that no patient or caregiver in a public hospital goes hungry. What began as a few food packets delivered outside a hospital gate has grown into a daily support system feeding 800+ people, with special focus on those from poor, rural, or unattended backgrounds.

Why we started
Why we started

Thripthi wasnโt launched as a standalone idea. It was born as a compassionate extension of Shamanam, our Free Medicine Program.
We were handing out medicines and telling patients โ โTake these after food.โ And then we realized: they didnโt have food.
Many caregivers and patients were skipping meals to afford medicine or transport. They slept hungry in hospital corridors. Thatโs when we knew: healthcare support must include nutrition.
Thripthi began with that truth โ and still carries it every day.

To provide free, nutritious, and hygienic meals to patients and their caregivers in public hospitals โ ensuring no one battles illness on an empty stomach.

โI came with my father for treatment and had no place to stay or food to eat. Thripthi gave me both strength and dignity.โ

โWe were told to take tablets after food. But we hadnโt eaten. Thripthi gave us the food that made the treatment work.โ

Food is not a luxury in healthcare โ it is a fundamental need. With Thripthi, we make sure that no one facing illness does so on an empty stomach, and that every medicine given through Shamanam is taken with a full heart and a nourished body.
