Thripthi – Free Food Program
Thripthi – Free Food Program
Thripthi is the Free Food Program of Helping Hands Charitable Trust, started in 1995 to ensure that no patient or caregiver in a public hospital goes hungry. What began as a few food packets delivered outside a hospital gate has grown into a daily support system feeding 800+ people, with special focus on those from poor, rural, or unattended backgrounds.

Why we started
Why we started

Thripthi wasn’t launched as a standalone idea. It was born as a compassionate extension of Shamanam, our Free Medicine Program.
We were handing out medicines and telling patients — ‘Take these after food.’ And then we realized: they didn’t have food.
Many caregivers and patients were skipping meals to afford medicine or transport. They slept hungry in hospital corridors. That’s when we knew: healthcare support must include nutrition.
Thripthi began with that truth — and still carries it every day.
