Why we started

Why we started

The challenge

Hundreds of children in Kerala are born each year with serious heart defects, with limited government capacity and unaffordable private care.

The reality

Many waited for surgery as their hearts failed, unable to raise ₹1–2 lakhs.

The response

Partnered with Aster MIMS and other hospitals to provide fully funded, expert surgeries for underprivileged children.

Special note: The hridyam phase

From 2021 to 2024, Suhrudaya was temporarily paused due to the Kerala Government’s Hridyam initiative which aimed to cover similar surgeries.

However, as demand grew and support from Hridyam reduced, many families returned to our doors. In 2025, Suhrudaya was relaunched to fill this growing gap once again — because a child’s heart cannot wait.

Why we started

The challenge

From doctors, hospitals, or other NGOs

Eligibility verification

Income proof, medical documents, urgency

Hospital partnership

Surgery arranged through Aster MIMS or partner hospital

Donor mobilization

Individual or pooled donors fund each surgery

Follow-up & recovery
