Introduction
At BDC, we’ve always believed that saving lives should never be limited by sound, speech, or ability.
Among our thousands of donors is a group whose work may go unheard — but whose impact is felt deeply: deaf volunteers who step forward with courage, clarity, and commitment.
Through a strong and ongoing collaboration with Ability Pulikkal, a leading organization working with the deaf and hard of hearing community in Malappuram, we’ve built an inclusive model where deaf donors are active, empowered, and celebrated.
🫱🏽🫲🏼 Partnership with Ability Pulikkal
Our journey toward inclusive blood donation wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of Ability Pulikkal.
This collaboration includes:
🤝 Community outreach to deaf youth and families
📣 Sign language interpretation at camps and training
🧏♂️ Deaf awareness sessions to bust myths and encourage safe donation
👥 Leadership training for deaf mobilizers
Together, we’ve hosted multiple silent-friendly camps — including one where over 30 deaf donors gave blood without a single spoken word.

🩸 Why This Matters
For many deaf individuals, the urge to contribute has always been there — what was missing was access and invitation.
Through this collaboration:
More than 100 deaf donors have joined the BDC network
Deaf donors feel a sense of agency and pride
Hearing donors and staff gain exposure to inclusive practices
Hospitals see that ability is not a barrier to saving lives
“You gave us space to help. Now it’s our turn to give.” — Donor from Ability Pulikkal
🔊 Real Heroes, Real Stories
Junaid, a deaf volunteer from Pulikkal, has donated 6 times and mentored others
Sameera, who donated blood for the first time on her wedding anniversary, now volunteers at awareness events
Several hearing-impaired NSS students have become BDC advocates in their colleges

Closing Note
At BDC, we don’t just collect blood — we build bridges.
With Ability Pulikkal and every deaf donor who walks into our camp with quiet resolve, we are reminded:
Compassion has no voice — but it echoes louder than anything else.
Let’s keep making blood donation a space where everyone is welcome, and everyone can give.
